ob体育地址 Designs, Inc. was responsible for the plumbing and electrical scope of this project. The company successfully completed the clash-free modeling with all MEP trades, providing Spool sheets, Trimble point layout, and Annotated shop drawings. Being a semi-circle building, the ob体育地址 modeling took advanced techniques that our crew was well prepared for.  This new Environmental Science Building 12 houses two 56-seat classroom/laboratories, two 119-seat tiered lecture halls, academic offices, a catering kitchen, lobby and gallery/event space, and support spaces.

The 21,000 SF building is sited on the ridge at Vista Point, creating a shared locus of educational activity and resources for community events. The lecture halls are able to host private seminars when they aren't scheduled for academic use; classrooms will double as event spaces; and the gallery, with its expansive views of the sea and coastline, can support community and enterprise functions as well as display student art. The floor plan and west elevation emphasize openness and long views with a minimum of obstructions like cross-bracing, shear walls, or numerous columns. Visitors are invited to progress from the main entrance through an expanding visual and spacial domain, from the entry lobby to high-ceilings and an arched glass-fronted gallery overlooking the ocean.

The new building opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 24, 2019, with the theme of the ceremony being described as "zero waste."

Vice President of the Classified Senate, Sherrie Prasad, said of the student body: “What you [the audience] see around these students, we did not need to teach them about climate change, about sustainability, because that’s what they had grown up with."

The building is targeted for LEED Gold certification, to exceed Title 24 energy requirements by at least 15%, and to be Zero Net Energy-ready in accordance with the District’s sustainable design and construction goals. The campus loop road and nearby parking have been rearranged and landscaped as part of the project.
